Family Movie Night, Oct. 2, 6:30 pm – “The Borrowers”!

Fellowship Activities have been hard to come by since the Pandemic started. We are going to try doing a relaxed “Family Movie Night” on Friday, October 2, at 6:30 PM in the Large Fellowship Hall. We will be showing the wonderful fun movie, “The Borrowers.” You can sit in family groups to be socially distanced, but be close enough to fellowship!

Pre-packaged Snacks and drinks will be provided. So come and join us for this fun time of fellowship!

Join us on Thursday, October 22, from 5:45-7:30 PM! NO MEAL will be served this year, but there will be plenty of candy for the kids! We look forward to seeing you! Everyone welcome! NOTE: TRUNKS arrive by 5:30 pm to get in position.

UPDATE 11/2/20 = We have exceeded our goal! $3,075 given! Thank You for your generous giving to this great cause!

The annual Global Hunger Offering for Southern Baptist Relief Ministries will kickoff October 11. Our church has established a goal for 2020 of $3,000 to help with this vital Relief Effort. All funds given will be sent to “Send Relief” – the entity established by Southern Baptists to fund Relief Efforts around the world.

These funds help with our Baptist Global Response to disasters, and to help bring food and clean water to people all over the world. We hope you will consider giving to this important Missions effort during October. Thanks for you generous and faithful giving!

Great Days Ahead! – Pastor’s Update

I hope this finds all of you doing well, continuing to weather the bizarre year that 2020 is. None of us could have ever predicted back on January 1 that this year would unfold as it has. But God is faithful, and He has walked with us and gone before us every step of the way. This has been a faith-building year!

As a church, we continue to try and meet the needs around us. We will continue to offer two Sunday morning services for the foreseeable future, 8:30 & 10:30 am, because it allows us to block off every other pew in order to provide some distancing. I know not everyone feels this is necessary, but there are many who do, and this helps more people feel they can get out and come to church for worship. Please know that we are trying to do the very best we can to navigate these issues and these times in the best way possible. Our 10:30 service will continue to be broadcast online each week, and Children’s Church (4-4th grade) is available in that service.

On October 4, we will be showing a Christian Documentary Film, “Before the Wrath,” at 6 pm. The film is 84 minutes long, and it focuses on recently rediscovered anthropological evidence from the time of Christ that relates to the coming Rapture of the Church ahead of the Great Tribulation Period. No one knows when the Lord will return, but we know that He will! This film helps us to think about His return and clearly presents the Gospel to help people be prepared for that glorious day. A Discussion Guide for the film will be provided. There is no charge. So invite friends and family to join us!

Beginning Sunday night, October 11, we will have a Sunday night Bible Study at 6 pm. We will study the book of Daniel using a Video Series by Dr. David Jeremiah, “Agents of Babylon.” I know this study will be a tremendous blessing to you and hope you will make plans to attend.  We will not have the song service, so as not to put too much on our accompanists since they are already doing two Sunday Morning Services. But this will provide another avenue for Bible Study together. It should last 30-45 minutes each Sunday Evening. I hope you will bring your Bible and join us!

Plans are being made for us to have our annual “Trunk or Treat” Outreach in October. It will have to be done differently this year, and we have some faithful folks working on those details. We will be sharing more soon about the date and how you can help. Just pray God will lead us, and will use it as a strong witness for Him!

It is a joy to Pastor this great church. I have been blessed beyond words to see your faithfulness to give and to serve through these very trying times. God is using this to make us stronger and more effective as we live for Him. Let me know if I can be of help to you, and always know I am praying for you and your family. May God bless you, and may He use us together for His Glory!

Watch the Movie “Before the Wrath” at Cornerstone, October 4, 6 PM – Everyone Welcome!

We hope you will join us Sunday night, October 4, at 6 pm for a special showing of the film, “Before the Wrath.” This Christian Documentary is a powerful film that provides a timely message of comfort and hope based on true discoveries from the time of Christ. Researchers in the Middle East present new evidence and shocking insight on the biblical prophecies of Christ’s second coming. Before the Wrath reveals how and why he will return for His Bride—Christians who faithfully wait for the Bridegroom, Jesus Christ.”

Watch the Trailer for the Movie above.

There is no charge to see this movie. A Discussion Guide will be provided. It is 84 minutes long. We hope to see you there!

NOTE: No childcare provided, but we love having children in the Sanctuary with us. There is a Restless/Sensory Room available just outside the Sanctuary that has audio from the service.

Children’s Church (4-4th GR) Available during 10:30 Service

We have resumed having Children’s Church classes during our 10:30 am Worship Service!

We have workers ready and able to teach children ages 4 years old – the 4th grade. You can take children 4 years old through Kindergarten directly to the classroom downstairs BEFORE the service begins. The 1st-4th grade children will be with family in the Worship Service until time for the sermon, and will leave when directed prior to the sermon beginning. The older kids will be in the Large Fellowship Hall for Children’s Church.

A big “Thank You” to our workers making it possible to resume this important teaching time for our Children!

Our 8:30 am service continues to be an option for Worship. However, we will only have Children’s Church during the 10:30 am service. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Two Sunday Morning Services, 8:30 & 10:30 am

We are currently having a two Sunday Morning Service format – identical services 8:30 & 10:30 am. We have every other pew blocked to provide for social distancing. Children’s Church (4-4th grade) is provided for the 10:30 service. We also have our Wednesday night Bible Study each week at 6:30 pm. We hope you will join us for Worship!

Regular Services to Resume July 5!

As you know, our church has done everything possible to cooperate with the requests made by our Governor and our local Health Department during the unprecedented COVID-19 Pandemic. We ceased having in-person services for seven consecutive Sundays (March 22-May 10). We have had only our two morning Sunday Services (identical with social-distanced seating) since May 10. In light of the Governor lifting the State restrictions, the consensus of our Deacons and our Church Family at-large seems to be that it is time to work toward resuming a more normal schedule.

To that end, we will resume our regular Sunday Services, 10:30 am and 6:00 pm, on July 5. Rather than only the two identical morning services, we will return to the one Morning Service and one Evening Service (different music/message). We will keep half of our pews social-distanced by skipping every other pew. The other half is now opened up.

We will also begin having Sunday School classes at 9:30 am on Sunday, July 5, although it is yet unclear how full a list of classes we can offer. We are still in the process of contacting teachers and workers to determine which classes we can resume. We will email and post on our website and on Facebook a list of the classes that will resume the week of July 1. Please pray that God will guide us as we seek His guidance in how to proceed.

Please know that we in no way want to pressure anyone to get out if you are not ready to do so. We will continue broadcasting our Sunday Morning Service on Facebook and YouTube, and would love to have you worship with us online if that is best for you. Your faithfulness to worship, to give, to serve others has been an incredible testimony to your faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ during these difficult days. May the Lord be glorified through us in the days and months to come!

Two Sunday School Classes Available in Sanctuary During the Week

This week, and continuing until the Social Distancing Guidelines are lifted, there will be two opportunities to attend Sunday School classes during the week. No childcare is provided.

In order to observe the 6-ft Social Distancing Guidelines, we are not having our usual Sunday School classes on Sunday. It is just impossible to observe Social Distancing in small classrooms – particularly with children.

Joe Davis is teaching his class on Monday nights at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary.

Kay Payne and Peggy Maples are combining their classes and meeting in the Sanctuary on Thursday nights at 6:00 pm.

Both groups would welcome anyone who would like to attend. In the Sanctuary, there is enough space to get everyone spaced apart properly. Thanks to Joe, Kay and Peggy for providing these Bible Study opportunities!
